The Olympic Torch is approaching the GTA and will hit Toronto on Thursday.
The flame traveled through Peterborough and arrived in Oshawa on Wednesday, passing through many small towns along the way.
“It’s a big deal because it brings the country together,” said Jason Marleau. He stayed up late on Tuesday to watch the torch travel through Bailieboro.
“The amount of people that came out, just to this little community, probably doubled the size of the town,” he beamed.
The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held on Canadian soil – but not everyone can make it out to Vancouver, pointed out one woman who stopped to watch the procession.
Former athletes took to the streets as well: Kurt Browning appeared outside Citytv headquarters at Yonge-Dundas Square in a show of support for the Olympic athletes.
