Brittany Murphy’s Death ‘Appears To Be Natural:’ Coroner

Friends and family of the late Brittany Murphy are expressing their grief over her untimely death.

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon…see you on the other side kid,” former boyfriend Ashton Kutcher wrote on his Twitter page.

The actress went into cardiac arrest in her home on Sunday. She was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Murphy was 32 years old.

She was known for her work in 8 Mile and Sin City, but her first big break came when she was cast as new-to-town Tai in the movie Clueless. Tai is the subject of a makeover project from the most popular girl at school, Alicia Silverstone’s Cher.

“She was wonderful. She was just such a sweet, innocent person…I think she felt the pressure to become a different sort of commodity to survive in show business, and I think it was awful,” Clueless director Amy Heckerling told Scott Feinberg.

Murphy was also a voice actor, playing the role of Luanne Platter in the animated sitcom King of the Hill. She was the voice of penguin Gloria in Happy Feet and sang in the movie. Additionally, she released a single with Paul Oakenfold (video below).

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that the cause of death “appears to be natural,” but that they are still working to determine the official cause.

Murphy is survived by her husband Simon Monjack, mother Sharon, and father Angelo Bertolotti.
