Texas Woman, 42, Arrested In U.S. For Allegedly Luring Barrie Teen Away From Home

A 42-year-old Texas woman who allegedly convinced a Barrie teenager to run away from home to be with her has been arrested in Houston.

The Houston Chronicle reports authorities were waiting for Lauri Price early Tuesday morning when her flight arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport. The mother of four was charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor and one count of child enticement, according to the Texas paper.

Police allege Price engaged in sexually explicit chats with the 16-year-old boy, who she reportedly met two years ago while playing War Craft online.

Price allegedly convinced the teen to run away from home and helped him word a letter to leave for his mother.  She flew to Toronto on Dec. 29, rented a car and headed to Barrie, where she allegedly picked up the teen.

The pair was spotted in Orillia two days later and the woman was interviewed by police and released. The age of consent in Canada is 16, so she wasn’t charged.

The teen’s mother reportedly contacted authorities in Texas, where the age of consent is 17, and they went ahead and charged the woman.

Price is in jail in Harris County. Bail was set at $310,000.
