Mississauga Man Charged With Human Trafficking

A Mississauga man is facing a slew of charges stemming from a human trafficking investigation. The suspect is accused of forcing two women to work in the sex trade.

The probe began back in September when police officers in York Region were called to help a 19-year-old woman in Vaughan who authorities say was in distress and had allegedly been forced to work as a prostitute.

Investigators later identified another woman, 22, who the suspect had also allegedly forced into the sex trade as a prostitute and exotic dancer in Toronto and Mississauga. The man used violence to maintain control over the woman, authorities claim, when she refused to hand over the money she’d earned.

Detectives didn’t have to go far to find their suspect, who was already in custody in Toronto on unrelated matters.

Randy Estick, 29, appeared in a Newmarket court Wednesday on a number of charges, including human trafficking; forcible confinement; assault and choking, among others.

He has another court date scheduled for Jan. 20 in Newmarket.

Detectives in York Region are asking anyone with information on these cases to contact them at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7640 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
