StreetBeat – Jan. 7 – Suspects At Large After East-End Shooting

Police are searching for at least two suspects after a man was shot in the stomach Thursday night.

It happened around 10pm in a building on Eglinton Avenue East, near Kingston Road.

The victim’s condition is not known.


Teen Hurt In Drive-by Shooting

Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a teenage boy in Lawrence Heights.

The 17-year-old victim was walking with a friend on Flemington Road, near Blossomfield Road, early Thursday when someone in a passing car fired shots, hitting the teen in the ankle.

The boy made it home and called police.


Peel Police Searching For Sex Assault Suspects.

Peel Police officers are looking for several men accused of sexually assaulting a Brampton woman – and they need your help.

The 33-year-old victim was at a bar, Jack’s Backyard, on Saturday January 3. While there, she allegedly met a man who invited her to a house party.

She went to the party and was allegedly attacked.

One man has already been arrested, but police are still looking for the man the woman met at the club, as well as other suspects.

Daniel Downey, 50, is charged with:

  • Gang Sexual Assault
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Possession of Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking.

The other suspects are described as black males.

Police Make Arrest In Brampton Sex Assault

Peel Police have arrested a man accused of attacking a Brampton woman on New Year’s Day.

Investigators believe that the 29-year-old victim was walking in the area of Main Street and Nanwood Drive around 2:30am on January 1.

The suspect allegedly pushed her to the ground and dragged her towards a nearby creek.  

A witness began to intervene and the suspect fled.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she was treated for numerous injuries to her face and body. She has since been released.

Yosef Jomo Gopaul, 22, was arrested on January 5 and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault.

Police believe that Gopaul had met his victim earlier that night and are investigating.
