Province Expected To Sign Deal With Samsung To Build Wind & Solar Farms Across Ontario

Thousands of new green jobs could be created when the province inks a deal with a group of South Korean companies to build wind and solar farms across Ontario.

Samsung leads the consortium expected to forge a deal with the province. Premier Dalton McGuinty is expected to sign the agreement this week, possibly as early as Thursday.

The provincial government confirmed in September it was negotiating with the South Korean companies on the project that is expected to create approximately 15,000 jobs.

McGuinty would ultimately like to create 50,000 new jobs in the renewable energy sector under his Green Energy Act, which aims to lift Ontario’s economy by making it a hub for manufacturing and exporting green energy.
