Bosh Leads Raptors To 111-103 Win Over Heat

Chris Bosh scored 24 points and had a season-best 18 rebounds to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 111-103 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

Andrea Bargnani added 27 points for the Raptors before a crowd of 18,265 at the Air Canada Centre. Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 35 points and Jermaine O’Neal had 22.

The victory moved the Raptors a half game ahead of the Heat for fifth place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

The Raptors (24-22) took a nine-point early in the fourth quarter, but the Heat (23-22) narrowed Toronto’s lead to 94-91 with 5:55 left in the game on a 15-foot jump shot by Udonis Haslem.

Bosh put the Raptors ahead 100-91 with an 18-foot jump shot with 4:14 to play. Once again, the Heat came back, climbing to within four points on Rafer Alston’s three-pointer with 3:22 to play.

After two free throws by Haslem made it 102-98, Bosh came back with a lay-up on a pass from Bargnani to go up 104-98 with just more than two minutes left.

Hedo Turkoglu’s two free throws put Toronto ahead 106-101, but Wade came back with a lay-up off a fast break to bring the Heat to within three points, 106-103, with 1:03 to play.

After Jose Calderon made one of two free throws, Dorell Wright missed a three-pointer and the Raptors came back to take a 110-103 lead with 15 seconds left on a three-pointer by Antoine Wright.

The Heat had an anxious moment early in the game when forward Michael Beasley left the game with 7:32 left in the first quarter after he took a tumble beneath the basket at the Toronto end.

The Heat reported that he had a slightly hyper-extended right knee. He returned with 7:15 left in the second quarter.

His departure didn’t prevent the Heat from taking a 34-23 lead from the first quarter as Wade scored 14 points with an impressive array of shots. Sonny Weems and Bargnani led Toronto with nine first-quarter points apiece.

The Heat led 60-57 at the half on 21 points from Wade who was 7-for-10 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line and 15 from O’Neal. Bargnani led Toronto with 13 first-half points.
