The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is bringing Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels to Toronto to commemorate Black History Month and celebrate the “Black Experience in Cinema”.
Daniels, who was nominated for an Oscar this week for Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, will join CFC founder Norman Jewison and acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Clement Virgo for a discussion on black representation in cinema before a special screening of Jewison’s groundbreaking 1967 film In the Heat of the Night.
The event takes place on Tuesday, February 9 at the Isabel Bader Theatre. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the venue the night of the event. All proceeds goes towards the CFC Diversity Scholarship.
