Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting, Police Investigating

Homicide detectives are probing their second case in as many days.

A man was found shot to death inside the stairwell of an apartment at 20 Falstaff Ave., near Jane Street and Highway 401. Tyrell Duffus (pictured), 22, was pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday.

Investigators believe that Duffus spoke with his killer between 6pm and 7om. During their conversation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Duffus.

“I could say it was certainly a targeted event. I’m not going to get into his background,” Det. Mark Carbone said.

This is the city’s seventh homicide of 2010.

Duffus and his girlfriend, Renee Brown, were expecting a baby in July. His family said he worked painting and installing drywall.

“He was excited,” Brown said.

“He just wanted to work and make money and save money for his child.”

Investigators are going door-to-door in the area, in an effort to turn up some clues and track down a suspect.

This fatal shooting came just over a day after 30-year-old Glenn Lowe was found dead on the porch of a home near Jane and Trethewey. He’d been shot twice in an apparent altercation late Sunday night.

Detectives are still searching for suspects and a weapon. They claim they found a marijuana grow-operation inside the home.
