StreetBeat – Feb. 22 – Alleged Grow-Op Busted

A man is facing a number of charges after police raided an alleged marijuana grow operation last week.

Authorities executed a search warrant at a home in the Brimley Road and Eglinton area Saturday after receiving a community tip. Police said they seized 587 pot plants from the home worth nearly $600,000.

Hamilton man Hong Nguyen, 33, is charged. He was scheduled to appear in court Sunday.


Man Faces Four Charges In Collision Investigation

Toronto Police have arrested a man who allegedly drove his vehicle through the lobby of an apartment building.

The collision occurred on February 19 around 9pm, at 121 Parkway Forest Drive.

Fawad Abdul Basir, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with:

  • Take Auto without consent
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to Stop after accident
  • Fail to Comply with probation

Police Investigating Alleged Sexual Assault

Toronto Police are looking for a man following an alleged sexual assault.

A woman in her 20s was allegedly attacked at knifepoint near Yonge and Bloor streets on February 16.

The suspect is described as:

  • white
  • in his mid-20s
  • approximately 6’3”
  • muscular build
  • short brown hair
  • blue eyes.
