Second Harvest Wants Your Lunch Money

It’s not the school bully this time – it’s Second Harvest that wants your lunch money.

The organization collects perishable food that would otherwise go to waste and distributes it to approximately 250 social service programs in the Metro Toronto area.

Unlike many food banks, Second Harvest deals mainly with fresh food. Donors include grocery stores, food manufacturers and distributors.

Thursday, February 25 is lunch money day, one of the biggest fundraisers for Second Harvest. Volunteers will be at TTC stations to collect cash donations. Every $5 can provide 10 nutritious meals.

Citytv is a proud sponsor of Second Harvest and donations will also be accepted at 33 Dundas St. E. and 545 Lake Shore Blvd. W.

You can also donate online.
