Clock Springs Forward This Weekend

An extra hour of daylight may be a welcome change for the winter-weary.

The clocks move forward this weekend for Daylight Saving Time and while you’re changing the numbers Toronto Fire is urging you to check your smoke alarms, as well.

You’ll want to set your timekeeper ahead by an hour as of Sunday at 2am. The spring ahead used to happen in April, but the day changed back in 2007 to follow the United States, which adopted the March time switch in an effort to save energy.

While the alarm clock is obviously in need of altering, here are a few other devices you won’t want to forget:

  • Microwave, oven
  • Car clock,
  • Cellphone, mobile devices (if they don’t switch on their own),
  • Any automatic timer lights.

And, as noted above, Toronto Fire is also reminding you to check your smoke alarms and replace the batteries.
