Families Can Now Borrow Free Passes To Toronto Zoo At Select Library Branches

Families can borrow a lot more from their local library other than books.

The city’s museum and art pass program was expanded Tuesday to include the Toronto Zoo. Five free family passes (two adults and two children) for the zoo will now be available at 32 Toronto Public Library branches starting this weekend.

The program allows families to borrow passes that provide free admission to a wide range of Toronto cultural landmarks, including the ROM, AGO, Bata Shoe Museum, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Casa Loma, City of Toronto Historic Museums, Gardiner Museum, Museum of Inuit Art, Ontario Science Centre, the Textile Museum of Canada, and now, the Toronto Zoo. The badges are made available on Saturday mornings on a first-come-first-served basis.

The program, launched in 2007, has been lauded for providing some kids with the chance to visit cultural centres their families may not otherwise be able to afford, and it’s proven to be extremely popular – nearly 10,000 passes are borrowed every month.
