More Than 33,000 Evenflo Baby Gates Recalled In Canada

Health Canada and Ohio-based manufacturer Evenflo have recalled 33,220 baby gates after several consumers reported minor injuries resulting from broken and detached wood slats.

So far, Evenflo has received reports of 26 incidents in Canada, including one minor injury related to Top-of-Stair Plus Wood Gates. The model number, 10502, can be found on the bottom rail along with UPC 032884145652 and the date of manufacture.

The gates were made in Mexico between October 2007 and July 2009 and sold at Toys R Us and other stores between December 2007 and September 2009.

Consumers should stop using the recalled gates and contact Evenflo to obtain a free replacement.

In the United States, the company has received reports of 142 incidents and 11 minor injuries such as bumps, scrapes and scratches. In addition, two children fell down the stairs.
