StreetBeat – Mar. 25 – Man Accused Of Kicking Dog Arrested

Police have arrested a 23-year-old Toronto man wanted for allegedly kicking a pregnant dog and making off with a family member’s car.

Shortly before midnight Tuesday, police received a call about an alleged assault near Ellesmere Avenue and Markham Road. But by the time they arrived, the suspect, Justin Dumpfrey, had fled in a silver Cadillac.

Tips from the public led police to Niagara Falls, where they arrested Dumpfrey on Wednesday. He faces a number of charges including assault, cruelty to animals, taking an auto without consent and threatening death.

He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.


Drug Bust

Police have seized more than a million dollars of marijuana and more than $200, 000 dollars worth of cocaine after searching a home in the Mercedes Drive/Beulah Street area.

Police allegedly found a marijuana grow-op with more than 1, 100 plants in the home. A hydro by-pass was being used.

Officers also seized more than 1, 400 grams of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.

Son Thanh Nguyen, 35 was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
  • Theft of hydro
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

School Assault

An assault at Marc Garneau Collegiate has lead to the arrest of three people.

At around noon Thursday, a group of three male students attacked another male student, using a stun-gun against the victim.

The principal, the school’s resource officer chased the suspects and Toronto police officers arrested them a short distance away.

Police seized the stun-gun and brass knuckles.

Three adult males have been charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (two counts)
  • Weapons dangerous (two counts)

They will be appearing in College Park Court on Friday, March 25th.


Stabbing

A man was sent to hospital in serious condition late Thursday night after a stabbing in the Victoria Park and Finch Ave. area.

The victim was stabbed in the hand and stomach after being robbed of his knapsack and IPod at Navaho Dr. and Cherokee Blvd.
