TTC Union Wants To Hear What You Think

The TTC union wants to hear what you think.
No, really.
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 will be holding three public consultations to address customer service issues.
Union president Bob Kinnear first announced the town-hall style meetings back in February, after a photo appeared showing a TTC employee sleeping on the job.
“Our name for this initiative is ‘Let’s talk,'” Kinnear wrote in a statement.
“And that’s what we intend to do. We’re extending an open invitation to the public to attend three meetings in the coming weeks on Sunday, starting at 1pm. The meetings will be broadcast on Rogers TV and streamed live on the Internet.”
The purpose, he said, was twofold: to show that the union is open to criticism, and to eliminate the “us vs. them” climate between riders and workers.
Earlier in the year, a TTC driver was caught allegedly taking an unscheduled bathroom and coffee break.
TTC General Manager Gary Webster issued a harsh public statement criticizing the behaviour, saying he was tired of defending the transit body’s reputation.
Kinnear responded, saying the email was “unfair in the extreme.”
