Passengers Can Now Bring Two Carry-On Bags Onto U.S.-Bound Flights

Restrictions on carry-on luggage for U.S.-bound travelers have eased.

As of Thursday, Canadians flying to the States can now bring two bags and personal items on the plane with them.

The tightened security measures came into effect shortly after a failed Christmas Day bomb attempt on board a plane bound for Detroit from Amsterdam. After that incident, Canadian authorities announced travelers headed to the U.S. could only carry one bag onto a plane and limited personal items.

Full body scanners were also introduced in Canadian airports and because those devices are now being used, the temporary carry-on restrictions are no longer needed, federal Transport Minister John Baird said.
