Remains Of Canadian Soldier Killed In Afghanistan Returned Home

The latest Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan has been returned home in a repatriation ceremony held Wednesday afternoon in eastern Ontario.

The body of Pte. Tyler William Todd arrived at CFB Trenton at 2pm.

The 26-year-old soldier was killed on the weekend by a powerful roadside bomb just outside a village south of Kandahar city.

Among those who paid their respects were Defence Minister Peter MacKay and Gen. Walt Natynczyk, the chief of defence staff.

Todd grew up in Bright, Ont., but was a member of 11 Platoon, Delta Company from the 1st Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton.

A total of 142 Canadian soldiers have died as part of the Afghan mission.
