Two More Men Arrested Following Weekend Brawl At Sikh Temple

Two more men have been arrested following a weekend brawl at a Brampton temple.

The fight broke out at the Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple just before 3:30pm on April 18.

“I don’t know who raised their hand first. I heard loud yelling and I saw machetes and small axes and the crying,” Jagdish Grewal, owner of the Punjabi Post, said at the time.

“One guy hit the other guy very badly with a hammer…There was blood. Yes, of course there was blood.”

Four men were taken to hospital, treated and released. Peel Police officers, who had been warned about the temple’s ongoing internal power struggle, were on hand at the time and arrested three of the injured men.

Two more men turned themselves in later in the week.

Amarjit Singh Mann, 58, is charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • two counts of Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

Surjit Singh Atwal, 54, is charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon.
