StreetBeat – Apr. 29 – High School Student Suffers Critical Injuries In Rugby Game

A 16-year-old boy suffered critical injuries during a high school rugby game in Scarborough Thursday afternoon.

At about 4pm, the teen, Wesley Jorisch, was tackled on the field of Pope John Paul II Catholic Secondary School near Morningside Ave. and the 401. He was part of the visiting team from Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School.

He was found without vital signs, before being revived and rushed to Sunnybrook hospital.

Initially, reports suggested the teen may be suffering from head or neck injuries. Now there’s word Jorisch may have had a pre-existing medical condition.

He is currently in a medically-induced coma, having undergone x-rays and C.T. scans. He still remains in critical condition.


Man Clinging To Life After Baseball Bat Attack

The 37-year-old victim of a downtown baseball bat attack remains in hospital clinging to life.

The vicious beating happened on Queen Street, just east of Sherbourne, around 9:30pm Wednesday.

Police confirmed they’re looking for one suspect, who was described by a witness as a tall, slim, white man in his 20s.
