Officials from the provincial government have been called in to investigate an accident at a downtown construction site that sent a worker to hospital Monday morning.
Firefighters rescued the man after his harness broke as he was working on a wall on the 13th floor at a construction site at 18 York St., near the Air Canada Centre, just before 7:30am. The worker fell eight feet and suffered non life-threatening back and hip injuries.
The firefighters loaded the injured worker onto a stretcher that was lowered by crane several storeys to an ambulance waiting below.
