Ontario Leads The Pack For Road Rage: Poll

Most drivers have at one time or another encountered – or even exhibited – the ugly behaviour that can result when someone is protected by the relative anonymity of the car.

And according to a new poll, the swearing, gesturing and generally heated reaction to a perceived wrong – otherwise known as road rage – is highest in Ontario.

A Globe and Mail Harris/Decima survey of about 1,000 Canadians, found 29 per cent of Ontarians were likely honk their horn when cut off, while 19 per cent of Albertans and 18 per cent of those in Manitoba and Saskatchewan said they would.

In fact, the most passive drivers came from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with 74 per cent claiming they avoid road rage. That compares with almost two-thirds (62 per cent) of drivers nationwide.

Congestion and being cut off by another driver where the two most infuriating triggers according to those surveyed.
