The Foreign Affairs department says there are no reports that any Canadian was on the plane that crashed Monday in northern Afghanistan.
A spokeswoman also said the department is monitoring the situation.
Earlier, the British Embassy in Kabul said three British nationals were among six foreigners on board the plane that carried 44 passengers and crew.
The Pamir Airways flight went down about 100 kilometres from Kabul on a flight from the northern city of Kunduz to the capital.
There was no immediate word on casualties because poor weather was hampering efforts to locate the plane.
Kabul-based Pamir Airways started operations in 1995.
