Kitchener Toddler Drowns

Police have confirmed that a two-year old toddler has drowned while swimming in a family pool in Kitchener.

While the events surrounding the boy’s death are still unclear, police were called to a home on Pinehurst Crescent, in the McGarry Drive and Fischer Hallman area around 2pm Thursday afternoon.

This is supposedly the home of the child’s grandparents.

The family’s neighbours were heartbroken over the tragic loss.

“Our hearts just go out to the family and to the extended family, it’s a tragedy nobody wants to see happen,” said Lisa.

“He was just playing around like a normal kid. You leave him around for two seconds and this happens…I’m sure that the grandmother is feeling really awful today, you can never replace that,” said Jack.

Police aren’t commenting at this time, as they wait for the boy’s parents to return home from a trip and as their investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
