Man In Custody Following Shooting Near Rogers & Dufferin

One man is in hospital and another is in custody following a shooting in the Rogers Road and Dufferin area.

Multiple shots were fired in or around a home on Boon Avenue on Thursday morning. One person was hit by gunfire. The victim, believed to be a man in his 50s, has been rushed to hospital.

Authorities surrounded a home with a suspect inside and residents were told to remain inside their homes.

The suspect, reported to be a man in his mid-80s, has been arrested. His wife was also taken into police custody.

Reports from the scene suggest that it was a dispute between neighbours.

A police dog found the alleged weapon near the home.

This incident comes just weeks after another shooting in the area. Mitchell Leton Celise, 17, was shot to death on Winona Avenue, near St. Clair Avenue West and Oakwood, on May 3. One arrest has been made in the case and police continue to search for a second suspect.
