Ticket Sales Up 38 Per Cent For Record $95-Million In Lottery Prizes

Ticket sales are brisk for the record $95-million in prizes on the line in Friday night’s lottery.

The Lotto Max jackpot is at the maximum $50-million for the third straight week, and there are 45 Maxmillion draws worth $1-million each.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. spokeswoman Sarah Kiriliuk said ticket sales are up 38 per cent across the country compared to last week.

Because there are so many draws, Kiriliuk says the winning numbers might not be available by 5 a.m. ET Saturday, when some retailers open.

She said people planning to stay up all night to see if they’re the country’s newest millionaire might just want to sleep in.

In February, a ticket each in Quebec and B.C. split a $50-million Lotto Max draw while a Manitoba woman won the $50-million jackpot last November.
