Street Beat – June 22 – Man Killed In Garbage Truck Crash

A man has died following a collision with a garbage truck.

The crash happened on Applewood Crescent, near Highway 400 and Langstaff Road, just before noon on Tuesday.

The victim, a pedestrian, was rushed to hospital but it was too late.

The victim has not been identified.


Police Investigating Shooting

Toronto Police are investigating an alleged shooting that sent one man to hospital.

Officers were called to the Eglinton Avenue and Markham Road area around 9:17pm on June 21.

When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital where he is expected to recover.

Investigators allege that three men approached the victim and demanded his jewelry. He refused and one of his assailants allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot him in the leg. The trio fled the scene.

Photos, Video Released Of Theft Suspects

Toronto Police have released photos and videos of three men wanted for theft. The trio have not yet been identified.

Officers allege that they’re responsible for robberies dating back to January 2010. The latest alleged break-in happened on June 20. In each case, computer equipment was stolen from downtown businesses.

On June 18,  two of the suspects allegedly entered a Queen Street West business between 6pm and 7pm and removed two laptop computers and an LCD projector.  Watch the video here.

One man is described as:

  • white
  • possibly 50-60
  • grey receding hair
  • medium build
  • He was wearing a blue, long-sleeve shirt with a dark T-shirt underneath, khaki or grey pants and black shoes, and carrying a backpack.

The second man is described as:

  • white
  • about 40
  • short brown hair
  • heavy build
  • He was wearing a baggy, blue, short-sleeve shirt with a white T-shirt underneath, blue jeans and white shoes.

A third suspect allegedly returned to the same business early the next morning and stole a laptop. He is described as:

  • black
  • 25-40
  • 6’2″
  • 240 lbs.
  • bald, clean shaven
  • muscular build
  • He was wearing a black, short-sleeve shirt, black pants and black shoes. He was also carrying a black computer bag.
