Body Found In Downtown Park

Police are investigating a suspicious death in a downtown park Thursday morning.

Just before 6am, someone walking in St. James Park, near Adelaide St. E. and Jarvis St., spotted what looked like an unconscious man lying in the grass by the central gazebo. The passerby called police, who arrived to find the partially-clothed man with superficial wounds to his body and no vital signs.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, police would like to talk to a group of males who, according to witnesses, were acting rowdy in the area between midnight and 4am. It’s not known if the victim was part of the group.

He is described as white, approximately 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches, with an average build and short dark brown or black receding hair. He had an earring in his left earlobe, and was wearing a black or dark brown string necklace with beads, a grey T-shirt, blue jeans, and size 8 ½ white runners with four blue stripes on the side and the word “Air” in red on the tongue and toe.

He had no identification.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7399, 416-808-7418 or 416-808-5100.
