Hurricane Earl On Track To Hit Atlantic Canada This Weekend

It’s still too early to issue any warnings, but the Canadian Hurricane Centre predicts Hurricane Earl will hit the east coast this weekend.

The category 3 storm, with sustained winds up to 213 kilometres per hour, has passed by the Dominican Republic and is currently churning toward the United States. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have already been hit by the storm.

Residents in North Carolina are being told to get out of the way. Mandatory evacuations are in place for Okracoke Island on the state’s Outer Banks and Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Earl is expected to hit N.C. Friday.
