Student Found Dead At Queen’s Residence An American: Coach

A student found dead outside a Queen’s University residence is an American teen from Westford, Connecticut, his swim coach said on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old man has not been officially identified, but coach Ellen Johnston told The Canadian Press his name is Cameron Bruce.

Flags at the campus have been lowered in honour of the first-year student.

Police described the death as a “tragic incident”. Bruce was found dead Monday on the grass in front of Victoria Hall, the largest dorm at Queen’s – a six-storey building that houses 850 students.

Police would not confirm the name of the teen and aren’t providing much information on circumstances of the incident. An autopsy will be conducted in Ottawa on Tuesday.

Reports suggest fellow students found the young man on the grass.

Monday was the first day of classes at the Kingston, Ont. campus. Orientation sessions and events were held there last week.
