Citytv Viewers Raise $45,000 to Fight Cancer

Citytv viewers gave generously and raised $45,000 in support of cancer research during City Fights Cancer on Sept 10.

Hosted by Gord Martineau, the special broadcast not only raised money for cancer research, but also raised awareness.

Inspirational stories were shared by CityNews anchor Mark Daily and CityNews reporter Cynthia Mulligan. Olympian, Elizabeth Manley, Juno-Award winning musician, Ronnie Hawkins, and hockey legend, Paul Henderson also shared their personal accounts of strength and courage.

Tina Cortese, Vice President/Executive Producer for Citytv Toronto, expressed nothing but gratitude towards viewers. “At Citytv, we are extremely grateful to the ongoing generosity of our viewers who continually rise to each occasion to make a difference.”

Anthony Fuchs, Director of Communications for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), thanked those who donated. “City Fights Cancer on Citytv represented a unique and wonderful opportunity to help Canadians to understand the key role of the Canadian Cancer Society in combating this terrible disease.”
