Living In Toronto? Get Ready To Pay The Price

If you live here, you’re already pretty familiar with the high cost of city living.

Drive to work? Hope you like paying for parking, not to mention ETR fees.

Take the TTC? We’ve got one of the most expensive (and least-subsidized) transit systems ever.

We’re not saying it’s not worth it – in fact, over two million people have decided to call Toronto home – we’re just saying it’s not all in our heads.

An international survey has ranked Toronto as one of the most expensive cities in the world.

In fact, we came in eighth, according to Swiss wealth management firm UBS Bank.

Oslo is the city with the highest cost of living, followed by Zurich and Geneva.

Montreal is also in the Top 10, but barely: the Quebec city ranked ninth.

UBS Bank says it’s because of a higher inflation rate and stronger loonie.

Montreal and Toronto jumped 20 spots over last year and are now more expensive than London, Singapore and even Paris.
