U Of T Ranked 17th Best University In The World

The University of Toronto has been ranked as one of the top 20 post secondary institutions in the world.
Eight other Canadian universities made the annual Times Higher Education list which ranks the best 200 institutions of higher learning around the globe.
The U of T ranks 17th this year, followed by the University of British Columbia ranked 30th, McGill is 35th, McMaster is 93rd, Alberta is 127th, Victoria is 130th, University of Montreal is 138th, Dalhousie is 193rd and Simon Fraser is 199th.
Last year McGill was the top-ranked Canadian university.
The process in determining top schools was modified this year with less importance placed on an institution’s reputation. A statistical problem that gave universities that had more scientific research a higher ranking was also fixed.
