McCallion Gives Testimony At Conflict Of Interest Trial

Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion took the stand again on Tuesday as a conflict of interest trial involving her son Peter continues.

Outside the courtroom, McCallion said what the public took away from the judicial inquiry was “entirely up to them.”

McCallion’s son Peter stood to benefit from a $14.4 million failed land deal between World Class Developments and the city. Peter is a part owner of World Class Developments. McCallion has said she thought he was only the real estate agent.

Though the agreement fell through, the city still paid the company $4 million.

On Monday, McCallion said she should have declared a conflict of interest much earlier.

The results of the judicial inquiry will not be known until after the October 12 election, where McCallion plans to run for a 12th term.
