Mississauga Hit-And-Run Victim Dies

A 23-year-old woman has died more than a week after she was hit by a vehicle in Mississauga.

Late September 16, Lindsay Tamminga was walking with a date on Creditview Road when they started to cross at Kenninghall Boulevard.

Police say a car driving northbound on Creditview then struck Tamminga and continued north without stopping.

She was taken to a local hospital, but quickly rushed to a Toronto trauma centre, where she died on Sunday.

Two days after the collision, police arrested Jose Cobaria, a 58-year-old Mississauga man who will now be charged with fail to remain causing death. Officers are not saying how he was caught, but he did not turn himself in. He is due in a Brampton court on October 18.

Detectives are still appealing to witnesses, who should call police at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
