Citytv Participates In Run For The Cure

The largest – and pinkest – single-day fundraiser for breast cancer research in Canada is happening right in our own backyard.

Toronto will celebrate the Run For The Cure on Sunday, with participants lacing up their shoes and gathering pledges to put an end to the disease.

Cynthia Mulligan, who detailed her private battle with breast cancer on a very public blog, will be there – but we can’t guarantee she’ll be sporting that same pink wig.

Breakfast Television’s Frank Ferragine and Jennifer Valentyne as well as CityLine host Tracy Moore will also be there.

Cities across the country are pounding the pavement in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, which began as a grassroots event 18 years ago in Toronto.

About 1,500 people took part in the first Run for the Cure in 1992, raising $85,000 for research, education and awareness. Last year, 170,000 Canadians from dozens of communities raised more than $26.5 million.
