Province Takes Aim At Ticketmaster

The provincial government is once again debating proposed legislation that could stop Ticketmaster from profiting by selling and then reselling passes to the same event.

The Ticket Speculation Act was first introduced a year and a half ago. It will receive a second reading in the Legislature.

Opposition critics claim Attorney General Chris Bentley is specifically targeting Ticketmaster, which owns the ticket resale website TicketsNow.

Bentley has shrugged off claims the government is solely targeting Ticketmaster — the primary seller of tickets. He says the proposed legislation would protect consumers who are tired of being redirected to another website with higher prices when they can’t get tickets on the Tickemaster website.
