Police are investigating after two separate consumers returned food that had been tampered with.
Earlier this month, a customer found a flathead screw in a container of Marzetti Ranch Veggie Dip that came from the No Frills at 1020 Islington Avenue, north of The Queensway. Another found a sewing needle in a package of No Name Italian Style Vegetables bought at the same store.
In July, officers arrested an elderly woman they say inserted sewing needles into packages of Piller’s Polish Sausage and Turkey Kielbasa bought two months before at No Frills stores and a Price Chopper in the west end.
If you bought a product you believe has been tampered with, keep the product, packaging and receipt and contact your local police or the Canadian Food Inspection Agency at 416-665-5049.
