Street Beat – October 27 – SIU Called In Following Balcony Fall

The SIU is investigating after a man fell off a balcony on Tuesday evening.

It happened at an apartment complex on Vanauley Street, near Spadina Avenue and Queen Street.

The victim, believed to be a man in his 20s, sustained injuries to his arm but is expected to survive. He may have been fleeing from police when he fell.

The provincial Special Investigations Unit is called in whenever incidents involving police result in serious injury, death, and allegations of sexual assault.


Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Turns Himself In

A man wanted for attempted murder in a Mississauga shooting has turned himself in to Peel Police.

Officers were called to Dundas Street just east of Hurontario Street around 11:56pm on October 11. When emergency crews arrived, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Initially, police say, the victim fled the scene. He has since been treated and released from hospital. Officers put out a description for the suspect on October 21.

NePaul McMorris, 22, turned himself in on October 26. He was charged with attempted murder. Other charges are expected.
