A teenage girl has been arrested and charged following a break-and-enter in Vaughan that saw the homeowner stabbed in the stomach.
York Regional Police took the 16-year-old, who cannot be identified, into custody on Thursday.
Officers allege that around 8pm on October 28, the accused knocked on a door of a home on Giotto Crescent. She allegedly asked a 49-year-old man if she could use the bathroom. He said no.
About half an hour later, the man allegedly found the teen in his home. She was allegedly trying to steal his car keys. They fought and the man was stabbed.
She ran away and he called 911. Police arrested her at the scene without incident.
The man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The 16-year-old has been charged with attempted murder, weapons dangerous and break and enter.
