GM Recalls 100,000 Crossovers To Fix Seatbelts

General Motors Co. is recalling about 13,000 crossover vehicles in Canada to fix seat belts that could fail in a crash.

Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX models from 2011 are affected.

The Canadian recall is part of a larger one in the U.S., which includes about 100,000 vehicles.

The automaker said the seat belt buckle anchor for the driver and front passenger seats could break apart in a crash.

U.S. GM spokesman Alan Adler said there have been no crashes or injuries reported.

The company said it discovered the problem during testing in September. Dealers will fix the seat belt buckles free of charge.

Canadian customers will receive a letter to notify them about bringing their car in for repairs.
