Teen Killed In Peel Identified

A family is searching for answers and Peel Police are investigating after a 17-year-old died in hospital on Tuesday morning following an attack at his home.

Shadi Taleb was rushed to hospital from a residence on Full Moon Circle, near Eglinton Avenue and Central Parkway East, Monday night.

Emergency crews were called to the house around 10:30pm on Monday. When they arrived, they found Taleb without vital signs. They rushed him to hospital, but it was too late.

A 45-year-old Mississauga woman was also in the home. She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the attack are still unclear and it’s not yet certain if it was a random home invasion or a calculated attack.

Police believe there could be up to six suspects who may have fled in a light-coloured four-day vehicle.

The teen’s shattered uncle spoke to CityNews on Tuesday.

“I don’t know if there is a human being who can be able to do that, to someone like this guy,” said Mahmoud Taleb.

“It was 10:30 at night, I was sitting, reading, I was going to be ready to sleep.  I got a phone call from my brother saying, ‘Come on, my son is gone.”

Neighbours were shocked by what transpired.

“For someone to come to your house is the most despicable thing to do,” said one area resident.

“Your house is supposed to be your sanctuary, somewhere you’re supposed to feel safe. People don’t feel safe right now.”

The victim’s family came to Canada from Lebanon about 18 years ago. Taleb lived at home with his parents and older brother and was a popular student at John Cabot Catholic Secondary School, where he was a semester away from graduating.
