Teen Charged After Alleged Assault On Bus Driver

A 17-teen-year-old male is facing numerous charges after allegedly assaulting a York Transit bus driver on Monday, January 15, 2011.

The alleged incident occurred around noon

The suspect boarded the bus at the Newmarket terminal, bound for Richmond Hill.  Before exiting near Yonge Street and Levendale Road, he became embroiled in a verbal confrontation with the driver.  

According to police, the suspect then chocked the driver before exiting the bus and fleeing the area.

The driver was not seriously injured.

The suspect was arrested at his residence on Thursday, February 3rd.  Police further allege that he attempted to evade officers and had to be chased down on foot before being taken into custody.

The teen is facing charges of: Assault, Breach of Probation, and Escape Lawful Custody.
