Doug Ford Dismisses Report Of Queen’s Park Run As Rumours

Councillor Doug Ford could be leaving City Hall for Queen’s Park, the Toronto Star reported Thursday.

“They’re just rumours,” Ford told CityNews outside council.

“I’m focusing on the task at hand and the task at hand is turning the ship around at City Hall,” he added.

The Star reported Ford is considering running for the Progressive Conservatives, making the move to provincial politics under party leader Tim Hudak.

The next Ontario election will be held on October 6 but Ford isn’t saying if he’ll give up his council seat before then.

Ford told the Star he would “never say never” to a provincial bid. If he does run, he’s expected to vie for the riding of Etobicoke North, which is currently held by Shafiq Qaadri, a Liberal.

Ford was first elected to council on October 25, 2010.

On February 1, the Progressive Conservatives announced that former Liberal party fundraiser and one-time mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi would run under the Tory banner in the upcoming election.
