Burke wants a trade in time for Tuesday’s game

The general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs has a tight deadline in front of him: Brian Burke told a throng of reporters on Monday that he wants a trade in time for Tuesday’s game.
“We’re trying to put a player in the lineup as soon as possible,” Burke said.
Burke added that it would likely be a defenceman.
“I try to get out in front of the trade deadline date,” he added.
He was speaking at the MasterCard Centre, the Leafs practice facility in Etobicoke, following a Family Day event where fans could meet players and watch the Leafs skate.
