Around the clock preparations continue as Oscar countdown heats up

It’s a race to the finish for those working behind the scenes on the 83rd annual Academy Awards.

The Oscars will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday and before celebrities can stroll along the red carpet, it has to be installed.

Caterers are busy prepping dishes (it’s even odds on whether any of the canapés will actually get eaten) and the famous statuettes are still, literally, underwraps.

Hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco have released videos showing their training, including how they would cope with any possible “wardrobe malfunctions.”

Franco could be pulling double duty: he’s nominated for Best Actor for his role in 127 Hours. He’s sharing his nomination with Javier Bardem, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, and Colin Firth.

The five nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role are Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, and Michelle Williams.

Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King’s Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winter’s Bone are the 10 movies up for Best Picture.

And for Directing, the statue could go to Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), David O. Russell (The Fighter), Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), David Fincher (The Social Network), or the Coen brothers (True Grit).
