Fire guts Mississauga church

Fire erupted and destroyed a church in north Mississauga Friday night.
The blaze broke out at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church on St. Barbara Blvd. near Derry Rd. and McLaughlin Rd around 11:30pm.
The roof of the church, which was up on blocks at the time, suffered the bulk of the damage.
Firefighters managed to make quick work of the blaze, putting out the fire within about half an hour.
Officials are said to be considering the fire as suspicious. Witnesses report seeing children playing around the church just before the fire broke out.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
