Suspects surrender after police release images of men wanted for cabbie assault

Three men have surrendered after Durham Regional Police released their photos to the public.

The suspects are accused of assaulting a Toronto taxi driver around 3am on February 19.

Officers say the cab driver picked up three men in the Entertainment District in Toronto who asked to be taken to a very specific spot in Pickering — the east end of the Sobeys parking lot on Brock and Kingston roads.

When the cab arrived in the parking lot, the three men took off without paying, police said. The driver chased the suspects who then allegedly assaulted the cabbie.

The men turned themselves in on March 7. Their photos have since been removed from CityNews at the request of police.

Brandon Monaghan, 23, of Pickering; Brandon Shreeve, 24, of Ajax; and Nicholas Cuccovillo, 23, of Ajax; are each charged with the following crimes:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Transportation Fraud
