A bakery driver from Toronto says he had a premonition he and his two close friends would win the lottery just days before they did.
Eugeniusz Borek – a 51-year-old Polish immigrant who works at Ontario Bread on Ossington Avenue – had a couple of unusual visions last week.
“Two days before the draw, I had a dream that I was pushing a wheelbarrow full of money with two other guys,” Borek said.
“The next day, I had a dream that I was opening up a car wash and a gas station and a couple of other small businesses. When I woke up, I thought, ‘The money is coming. I am sure.'”
But he was still surprised on Monday when he checked the Quick Pick ticket he and his friends, Zdzislaw Modlinski, 62, and Wlodzimierz Konieczny, 58, had bought at a Petro-Canada on The Queensway.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Borek said. “I was screaming, jumping, crying … I feel like this is the second life. I am in heaven.”
The three men have worked together at Ontario Bread for the past 17 years, but only started buying tickets as a group last September. All three plan to retire after the bakery owners hire their replacements.
Borek said he would likely use the money to help his family, buy a Mercedes-Benz, and travel with his wife Jolanta.
