Police find second body following Woodstock apartment explosion

Police in Woodstock, Ont., say a second body has been recovered from the site of a fiery explosion that destroyed an apartment building last weekend.

Police announced Thursday afternoon that the remains of the second victim of the fire were found this morning.

The remains have been removed from the scene for post-mortem examination in London, Ont., which will help confirm the identity.

Margaret Gillett, 73, and Bill Watmough 79, are the only tenants of the building reported missing since Sunday’s explosion.

Police Chief Rod Freeman says investigators don’t expect to find any other victims in the rubble.

Ontario Fire Marshal spokesman Bill Hiscott says the search for the cause, and the final report on the fire could take some time to be completed.

Five others who were unaccounted for immediately following the explosion were found alive.
